We have received many messages regarding the recent letter from Regency Living about their proposed works.

I think you'll all agree, this lot are unbelievable. We pay their wages every time someone invests hundreds of thousands of pounds into one of their homes, yet once again we're being treated like we don't matter. Decisions are frequently made in offices with little regard for how they affect those living beside the changes - for example, in Manstead, where residents who once overlooked green space and wildlife will now face the walls and windows of new homes. How do these development teams sleep at night?

The Current Situation

Regency has indicated they plan to begin preparation work on 25 May. While this is a little early and not how things should be done, it is not the main issue here.

Action Taken by the Residents’ Association

The RA has formally raised several concerns with the Council’s Licensing Officer. Our main points include:

Licence Compliance: We believe certain parts of the plans could lead to a breach of the site licence. We have requested that the Council ensures all checks are completed before any work begins.

Fit and Proper Person Standards: We have contacted the Council regarding the site’s "Fit and Proper Person" (Sharon), expressing our concerns about whether the speed and manner of these proposals meet the required standards for site management.

What Happens Next

Regency has informed us they intend to proceed. They have made a few token adjustments but the whole thing makes a mockery of the meeting we all sat through last week. Once again, the relationship between residents and this company is at rock bottom. We speak to other Residents’ Associations across the country, and there is universal anger at how Regency Living are behaving.

We are awaiting a formal response from the Council and will update you as soon as we hear more.

Stay Informed

As things are moving quickly, please check our website and social media regularly. We are unable to provide printed newsletters for every small update, so online platforms remain the fastest way to get the latest news.

In the meantime, please continue to share your views and make your voices heard - to Regency of course.
