Basildon council has received a planning application for 375 new homes, an early years childcare facility and sports pitches on the land surrounding our site. Also a new road junction on Lower Dunton Road which goes through the new estate and out onto Mandeville Way.

Local authorities are still legally bound to adhere to the national planning rules and that includes protecting the green belt from inappropriate development. However, the government has recently told local authorities that they can now approve developments on green belt land when brownfield land has been exhausted.

Unfortunately the cards are stacked against us because Basildon say they don't have sufficient brownfield sites. However, it’s still important to have our voices heard.

We only have a few weeks to submit objections before a decision is made and whilst the residents association can send an objection - it helps if residents object individually too. Any objections received as part of this formal consultation period have to be taken into consideration when the council makes their decision.

A lot of people have asked if we’d supply some kind of template so I’ve written something up and our team will deliver a copy to all homes in the next few days which you're welcome to use.
