Hendges/Fences
Dunton Park Residents' Association
Further to Regency’s recent letter regarding hedges, fences, and other structures on plots.
Much of what was outlined stems directly from the site licence, and all the rules on things like maximum heights aren't the company being fussy - they're about safety so it's important we don't disregard them.
Some may remember that a few years ago Calor terminated its contract with our park. A key factor in that decision was the deterioration of safety standards. Residents had begun erecting sheds, fences, and other items near gas infrastructure, compromising the bulk gas supply. The loss of that service was, in large part, down to those who ignored the rules.
To be clear: hedges and fences placed within the separation distance between homes must not exceed one metre in height. The council’s licensing officer is required to check these periodically and issue warnings or sanctions to the company if breaches are found — including where hedges or fences exceed the permitted height.
The Residents’ Association fully supports Regency’s efforts to uphold these standards. Whether in park homes or traditional housing, rules exist for a reason - and in this case, the stakes are high. We’ve all seen how fast a fire can spread in a park home. Given the age profile of many residents here, any lapse in safety can have devastating consequences.
