Back in June, Regency Living’s head of planning contacted us to discuss why we had objected to their application for new units on the old touring field.

We explained that while we did not object in principle, we had serious concerns about their lack of consultation. Had they spoken with us earlier, many of our issues could have been resolved without the need for a formal objection.

As we’ve all come to learn, however, Regency prefer to operate on their own terms.

During our meeting with the head of planning, one of the key topics raised was the proposed entry and exit points for the new site, which were wholly unsuitable. He shared a revised site plan with us over Teams and promised to send it afterwards.

Despite repeated follow‑ups since June, we have still not received this plan.

We have now reported the matter to the planning officer at Basildon Council. She has confirmed that she will request an accurate site plan from Regency, noting that this will require a fresh consultation. After all, none of us can be expected to provide meaningful comments on an application when the plan submitted to the council is materially different from what was shown to us.

Watch this space.
