We just wanted to clarify how ticketing will work for events going forward.

The next paid event is the Karaoke Night, and it’s also our trial run for online ticket sales. It’s already working smoothly and is making things much easier for us behind the scenes.

We know that the vast majority of residents already buy things online - theatre tickets, shopping, Amazon, holidays - so for most people this won’t feel any different. Using the online system for our events is simply the same idea, just on a much smaller scale.

Of course, some residents genuinely don't have online access or anyone they know that can do it for them. If that's you, please just let a committee member know and we’ll arrange to sort it for you.

But for those who can go online, choosing the digital option really helps us. At the moment, volunteers are the ones looking after hundreds of pounds in cash, making regular trips to Basildon, paying for parking, and queueing to pay money in. It’s a lot of time and responsibility for our busy team so where we can streamline things we will.

All our accounts are now being done fully digitally to follow normal accounting practices, so moving ticket sales online is simply part of us modernising and keeping everything running properly.

If you are able to buy your tickets online, we’d really appreciate it. Just visit our website and click on “Events” - it only takes a moment and it helps us enormously. We don’t ask residents for much, but this small gesture genuinely makes a big difference to us.
