Recycling Issues
Dunton Park Residents' Association
Lots of people tell the residents assocation that we need more black bins because they get full up within a few days.
However, this is being caused because not enough people are recycling so the black bins are fuller than they should be. This is causing overflow and attracting vermin.
Take a look inside any black bin on site and you'll see all sorts, from cans to boxes and even food! If all these things were recycled properly then the black bins wouldn't get so full up.
There's another knock on effect to all this. If the council spot recycling items in the black bins they don't empty them so it's double trouble.
Please can we all make an effort to recycle in the correct bins from now on.
We know some people find recycling problematic because the bins aren't designed for people who might be limited in what they can do. For example, breaking down cardboard boxes so they'll fit through the narrow flap. On that matter the residents association has written to the three new Labour councillors to ask them to look at these communal bins across the borough to see if they could be made more practical. We've invited them to come to our site so we can demonstrate how these containers can be improved. But in the meantime, if you are finding things a struggle, we are hear to help.
