Proposal for Annual Membership Fee

At our next AGM, we will be voting to introduce a nominal membership charge of around £5 per year.

The reason for this change is simple: fairness. Currently, all RA costs are covered by event profits. However, we have over 100 members who never attend events but benefit daily from our work. A lot of this work goes on behind the scenes and is often taken for granted. For example, our team recently negotiated a pitch fee reduction to compensate for the gas system issues - a direct financial benefit to every household.

The Reality of Running the RA

We are a small, busy team of volunteers who are constantly on the go for the benefit of this park. Many committee members invest 20–30 hours of their own time every single week. That time is spent running the club, managing the "Helping Hands" scheme, and taking on complex one-on-one casework for residents. Beyond that, the committee provides expert assistance on local planning issues that affect us all and represents the community at tribunals and negotiations with the landlord.

While we don’t do this for the praise, it's nice to get the odd 'thank you' letter in our post box which keeps us going. We do need the community to recognize that the level of support everyone gets from having a residents Association is invauable and £5 a year - less than 10p a week - is a very small price to pay for the professional-grade representation, advice, and community support we provide to every resident.
