The issue we hear about more than anything else on this site is people putting the wrong waste in the communal bins.

The office has sent plenty of newsletters gently reminding everyone what goes where - and what definitely shouldn’t be dumped in the bin stores at all (because the council won’t take it).

Most residents do things properly, to be fair. But we’ve still got a tiny hardcore who keep lobbing cardboard into non‑recyclable, tins into non‑recyclable, and even leaving big household items like clothes airers, chairs, bikes and — this week — an actual kitchen sink. You couldn’t make it up.

And just because the bin area is big, it doesn’t mean it’s a personal tip. It’s there for everyone’s normal household rubbish, not for a select few to fill with house‑clearance leftovers and bulky items that the vast majority of us dispose of properly.

A big reason people get so fed up with this is that it doesn’t just take up space meant for everyone’s weekly waste — it also leaves the bin store looking an absolute state. This is our home, and most of us want things looking tidy, not like the aftermath of a car‑boot sale gone wrong.

Please remember this goes against site rules, and anyone caught will be held accountable. Most residents are fed up with it now, so if someone is seen doing it, chances are it will be reported. If you spot anyone dumping the wrong items, feel free to let the RA know - we’ll guarantee your anonymity.
